Content repurposing: turn one video into ten posts

One piece of real content, filmed once, can honestly become several posts across platforms, as long as each version is reformatted rather than re-uploaded.

One filming session, several real posts

Repurposing means taking one piece of source material (a longer video, a livestream, a written piece) and reshaping parts of it for other formats and platforms, instead of creating something new from scratch for every post. It is one of the more reliable ways to post consistently without filming or writing every day.

What splits out of a longer video

A single longer video usually contains several smaller, independently useful moments:

  • A short, self-contained clip for a short-form platform: the most quotable or surprising moment, not the first 30 seconds
  • A pull quote or a specific claim, turned into a text-and-image post
  • A behind-the-scenes still or two, if any were captured
  • The core point, rewritten as a caption in its own right rather than "watch the full video"

Reformat, don’t just re-upload

The failure mode is posting the identical clip everywhere with the identical caption. A platform-native version performs meaningfully differently from a straight re-upload, even when the underlying clip is the same. That means cropping to the right aspect ratio, captioning for how that platform's audience reads, and writing a caption that stands on its own rather than assuming someone already watched the long version.

One session can outlast the week it was filmed

A single well-planned filming session, treated as source material rather than one finished post, can reasonably supply a week or more of content once split, reformatted, and spread across a calendar. That is the point of repurposing: fewer filming days, not fewer real posts.
