Social media for dentists and orthodontists

Dental anxiety is real and common. Content that reduces it, a calm office rather than clinical procedure shots, converts better than either extreme.

Anxiety, not indifference, is the real barrier to overcome

A large share of the audience for a dental or orthodontic practice has some anxiety about visiting one. Content that shows a calm, friendly, familiar environment does more to convert a hesitant prospective patient than a clinical procedure photo, which can reinforce the exact anxiety a practice is trying to reduce. Show the team, the space, and the unremarkable experience of a routine visit rather than instruments or procedures in progress.

Before-and-after content is strong here, with the same consent standard as any other healthcare content

Orthodontic and cosmetic dental transformations are visually dramatic and naturally persuasive, but they are still patient-identifiable content requiring the same specific, documented consent any other healthcare before-and-after needs. A blanket intake-form signature is not consent for a specific social post. That standard applies across healthcare more broadly.

Plain-language education addresses common, specific fears

A plain explanation of what a procedure involves, what it feels like, and how long recovery takes reduces the exact anxiety keeping some prospective patients from booking. Vague reassurance ("nothing to worry about") does less than an honest answer to "does this hurt" or "how long until I can eat normally again."

A realistic starting mix

A workable rotation for most individual practices:

  • A genuine look at the office and team, aimed at reducing first-visit anxiety
  • A plain-language explanation of a common procedure, including what it feels like
  • A before-and-after, with real, documented, procedure-specific consent
  • A practice update: new hours, a new provider, an insurance or scheduling change
