Why an email list is worth building alongside social
A social media following depends entirely on a platform's continued goodwill and algorithm. An account can lose reach, or access entirely, for reasons outside anyone's control. An email list is reachable directly, with no ranking system deciding who sees a message.
Offer something specific in exchange for an email address
A generic "sign up for updates" rarely converts. A specific, useful offer (a guide, a discount, early access to something) gives a follower a reason to hand over an email address, rather than asking for it with nothing concrete in return.
Use the link-in-bio page as the conversion point
Since most platforms allow only one clickable link, a link-in-bio page is usually the most practical place to route an email signup, alongside everything else that link needs to do. Give the signup real visual prominence there instead of burying it beneath other links.
Mention it periodically, not just once
A single announcement about an email list reaches only the people watching at that moment. Mentioning it periodically, tied to a real reason each time (a new guide, a specific offer), reaches the much larger share of an audience that was not watching the first time.
