How to write a social media bio that converts

A bio has one job: telling a new visitor in a few seconds whether this account is for them. Everything else is secondary.

State plainly what the account is for

A visitor lands on a bio having already decided to check it out, but only spends a few seconds deciding whether to follow. A bio that states clearly and specifically what the account covers and for whom converts far better than a clever line that requires figuring it out from the posts themselves.

Give the link a specific job

A bio link pointing to a generic homepage wastes the most valuable piece of real estate most platforms allow. A link-in-bio page, or a link pointed at the account's primary goal (a signup, a shop, a latest video), converts far better than a default homepage link.

Keep it current

A bio that still references a past campaign, an outdated offer, or an old link is a small but real drag on conversion for every new visitor who arrives after it went stale. Worth a periodic check, not a one-time setup task.
