Turning written content into a long-form video
A structured blog post or guide, one with clear steps or sections, often translates well into a long-form video, since the existing structure can become the video's outline. The written version rarely translates word-for-word. It needs a spoken, more conversational rewrite, not a straight read-aloud.
Turning a podcast into Shorts
A podcast or long interview usually contains several self-contained moments: a strong opinion, a specific story, a clear answer to one question. Each can become its own Short. The strongest completion rates come from clips much shorter than the maximum allowed length, so trimming tightly to the one clear moment matters more than preserving extra context.
Do not just re-upload a vertical video as-is
A vertical clip made for another platform can work as a Short, but it is worth checking whether it needs a new title card or on-screen text, since it will now be found through YouTube's own search and recommendations rather than the feed it was originally built for.
