Bluesky content pillars: what to actually post about

A pillar that fits cleanly into an existing topic-specific feed tends to earn more real distribution than one that is only relevant to your own followers.

A workable starting set

A reasonable mix for most accounts:

  • A specific, genuine opinion on something happening in your field
  • A behind-the-scenes note about ongoing work
  • A useful tip or resource genuinely relevant to your niche
  • A direct reply or addition to another account's post, planned into the mix rather than left as an occasional afterthought

Frame pillars around what a custom feed would want

Since discovery leans heavily on topic-specific custom feeds, it helps to think about each pillar in terms of which existing feed it would fit. A pillar with no obvious feed home is more likely to be seen only by existing followers than discovered by anyone new.
