How to repurpose content for Facebook

The same source clip usually needs a different edit for Facebook than it did for wherever it was first cut. The feed and the Reels tab reward different things.

Recut for retention, not just length

A clip trimmed to fit a time limit is not the same as a clip edited to hold attention. Since watch-through matters more than raw view count in the current ranking, a repurposed clip is worth re-editing for pacing: cutting dead air, moving the strongest moment earlier. Shortening it to fit is a different job.

Add the context a bare clip is missing

A clip that made sense with the surrounding video or platform context it came from often needs a short caption or on-screen text filling in what is missing once it stands alone. A viewer arriving fresh, with none of that context, should still be able to follow what is happening.

Reserve some repurposed content for private sharing

A genuinely useful or funny clip, framed with a caption that invites sending it to someone, can turn repurposed content into the kind of private share that carries real weight in the ranking. Do it deliberately with at least some of what gets repurposed rather than leaving it to chance.
