LinkedIn content pillars: what to actually post about

A small set of pillars tied to real, specific expertise tends to build more credibility over time than a wide mix of generic business content.

Anchor pillars to actual expertise

LinkedIn rewards content that holds a reader's attention, and a specific point of view from real experience does that far better than generic business advice available anywhere. The strongest pillars come from what you or your team have learned firsthand, not from what seems broadly appropriate to post.

A workable starting set

A reasonable mix for an individual or small team:

  • A specific lesson from a real project, mistake, or decision
  • A documented process or framework, shared as a native document or carousel
  • A genuine opinion on a trend or debate in your field
  • A recap of something learned from a real conversation or event

Keep the set narrow enough to build a reputation

Three or four pillars, posted about consistently, build a recognizable point of view over months. A wider mix that touches many topics loosely tends to leave less of an impression than fewer topics covered with real depth and consistency.
