The short answer
Every major platform has one place on your profile where a link can be clicked, and it is set from Edit profile or its equivalent. Instagram allows up to 5 websites, YouTube up to 14 channel links, and TikTok a website once you have 1,000 followers or a Verified Business Account. X has one Website field, and Threads has a Link field under Edit profile.
Because most of those places hold one link, or show only the first one prominently, the usual answer is to put a link-in-bio page there: one address that lists everything else, in the order you choose, and that you can change without editing every profile.
Where the link goes, platform by platform
The steps below come from each platform’s own help pages, read in November 2026. Menus move, so if a step does not match your app, look under Edit profile first.
| Platform | Where to add it | How many links | Who can |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profile, Edit profile, Links, Add external link | Up to 5 | Every account; the help page says anyone, on or off Instagram, can see them | |
| TikTok | Profile, Edit profile, next to Links tap Add | A website link | At least 1,000 followers, or a Verified Business Account |
| YouTube | YouTube Studio, Customization, Profile, Links, Add link | Up to 14 | Every channel |
| X | Profile, Edit profile, Website | One Website field | Every account |
| Threads | Profile, Edit profile, Link | The Link field | Every profile |
Instagram’s Help Center says you can add up to 5 websites to your profile. Go to your profile, tap Edit profile, tap Links, then Add external link and enter the address. To change the order people see, open Links again, tap Options, then Reorder links, and drag. The same page notes that anyone, on or off Instagram, can see your websites, so do not list anything private.
TikTok
TikTok’s Help Center says you can add a website link to your profile if you have at least 1,000 followers or a Verified Business Account. Tap Profile, tap Edit profile, then next to Links tap Add and follow the steps. TikTok also says it no longer supports links that open or log you into other social media apps; a link to another platform’s website still works.
Until you reach the threshold, a short address people can type, or a QR code on anything printed, is the way to send them on.
YouTube
YouTube Help says you can showcase up to 14 links on your channel. The first link is shown prominently in the profile section near the Subscribe button, and the rest appear when someone clicks to see more. To add them, sign in to YouTube Studio, select Customization, then Profile, and under Links click Add link, enter a title and URL, and click Publish.
Where else a link works on YouTube depends on where you put it. YouTube Help lists which places are clickable:
| Where the link is | Clickable |
|---|---|
| Channel profile links | Yes |
| Long-form video descriptions and comments | Yes, once the channel has access to advanced features |
| Shorts descriptions and Shorts comments | No |
X and Threads
X’s Help Center lists Website among the profile fields you can change, beside your name, bio, location and birth date: open your profile, choose Edit profile, and click or tap the field. There is one Website field, so it is the natural home for a link-in-bio page.
On Threads, the Instagram Help Center says you can update your bio, username, links and profile picture. Go to your profile, tap Edit profile, tap Link, enter it, then tap Done.
Keep the link safe and working
Platforms police these links. YouTube Help says links that send people to websites with content that breaks its External links policy are not allowed. TikTok’s Help Center tells people to check that a website is legitimate and secure before entering any personal information on it, and explains how to report a link on someone’s profile: tap the link, tap More options at the top, then Report.
Before you paste a new address into any of these fields, open it on a phone yourself, on mobile data rather than your home Wi-Fi, and check that it loads quickly and starts with https. Then tap it from your own profile once it is saved, since that is the path your audience will take.
Which link to put there
With one prominent link per profile, the choice matters more than the steps. A single product page is right during a launch. A page that lists everything is right the rest of the time, because it keeps working when your priorities change and you only edit it in one place.
| Situation | Link to use | Why |
|---|---|---|
| One launch or sale this week | That product or offer | One tap from the profile to the thing |
| Several channels and offers | A link-in-bio page | One address lists all of them |
| Links change every week | A link-in-bio page | Edit the page, not five profiles |
| Printed matter | A link-in-bio page with a QR code | The printed code keeps working when links change |
How PostEase helps
PostEase gives every workspace a link-in-bio page with a short address to paste into each of these fields, built from your brand kit, with a row of your connected channels, your links, and a QR code for print. The page is free on every plan, and it shows which links people click.
