Best time to post on Threads in 2026

Weekday mornings to early afternoon, with Wednesday strongest and evenings weakest. What Buffer’s 2.5 million posts and SocialPilot found, day by day.

The short answer

Post on Threads on a weekday between about 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. in your audience’s local time, with Wednesday and Thursday the strongest days. Buffer’s analysis of 2.5 million posts puts the top slots at Thursday 9 a.m., Wednesday 12 p.m. and Wednesday 9 a.m. SocialPilot, across more than 50,000 accounts, also ranks Wednesday best, with most of its peaks between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Avoid the evening. Buffer finds posts sent from 6 to 11 p.m. underperform on every day of the week, and ranks Saturday the weakest day, with Monday also below the other weekdays.

What two studies found

The two studies agree more than most: weekday mornings, Wednesday at the top, weekends and evenings at the bottom. One difference matters when you read their tables: Buffer reports local time, while SocialPilot reports US Eastern time.

If you post on a fixed day, this is each study’s best slot. Buffer’s times are local; SocialPilot’s are US Eastern, so convert them if your audience is elsewhere.

Why mornings win on Threads

Threads is a conversation app. A post does well when people reply to it, and replies come from people with a few minutes to read and answer, which on a weekday tends to be the morning and lunchtime. In the evening the same people are elsewhere, and Buffer’s data shows it on every day of the week.

What you do after posting matters as much as when. Buffer’s study of more than 128,000 Threads posts found that accounts got about 42% more engagement on posts where they replied to comments than on posts where they did not, comparing each account with itself. Post when you can stay around for the first hour of replies.

Threads and Instagram on the same day

Threads accounts are tied to Instagram accounts, so many people post to both. The two apps peak at different moments in Buffer’s data: Threads in the weekday morning, with evenings its weakest time, and Instagram with strong slots in the evening, especially for Reels. If you post to both on the same day, a Threads post in the morning and an Instagram post in the evening meets the same audience twice, at the moment each app is busiest, instead of twice at once.

How to find your own best time to post on Threads

Three steps, over about a month:

  • Pick two morning slots, such as Wednesday at 9 a.m. and Wednesday at 12 p.m., in your audience’s time zone.
  • Post the same kind of post in each slot for three or four weeks, and reply to comments on each. Compare the typical replies and likes in each slot, not the single post that took off.
  • Keep the winner, test it against a weekend morning once, and check again each quarter.

Post in your audience’s time zone

Buffer reports local time, meaning the time where your audience is. If you use SocialPilot’s table, convert from US Eastern first: its 9 a.m. is 2 p.m. in London. If your followers span time zones, choose the hours where the largest groups overlap, and schedule ahead so you are free to answer replies when they come in.

Questions

Evenings and Saturday. Buffer finds posts sent from 6 to 11 p.m. underperform on every day of the week, and ranks Saturday the weakest day, with Monday also below the other weekdays.

Is Threads timing the same as Instagram’s?

No. Buffer’s Instagram data favours midweek with strong evening slots, while its Threads data favours weekday mornings and finds evenings weakest. Set each app’s schedule from its own data.

Does replying to comments on Threads help?

Yes, in Buffer’s data. Across more than 128,000 Threads posts, accounts got about 42% more engagement on posts where they replied to comments than on posts where they did not. Buffer notes this is a correlation.

What is the best time to post on Threads on the weekend?
