How to schedule Bluesky posts

A Bluesky post has no publish-later setting of its own, so a scheduler sends it at the time you pick. How that works, what to check, and how to set one up.

The short answer

To schedule a Bluesky post, you write it in a tool that publishes to Bluesky and pick a time; the tool sends it then. A Bluesky post carries no “publish at” setting of its own: the AT Protocol’s post record, which Bluesky is built on, has a text field, attachments and a createdAt time, which its definition calls the “Client-declared timestamp when this post was originally created.” So scheduling is something an app does for you, by posting at the moment you chose.

That makes the choice of tool matter more than on platforms with a built-in scheduler: it has to be running at the time, connected to your account, and able to send everything your post contains.

Before you schedule: the sizes Bluesky takes

A scheduled post publishes exactly as you made it, so check it against Bluesky’s own limits first:

Bluesky post limits, as set out in this blog’s Bluesky specs post
WhatLimit
Text300 characters, counted as you see them
Images per postUp to 4
Image file sizeUp to 2 MB (2,000,000 bytes) each
VideoOne MP4 per post
Video lengthUp to 10 minutes
Video file sizeUp to 300 MB

Pick the time in your audience’s time zone

Bluesky’s Following feed shows posts in the order they were made, so the time you post decides who sees it near the top. Choose the time for the people you want to reach: if most of them live hours ahead of or behind you, schedule for their morning or evening, not yours, and check again in the weeks the clocks change.

Scheduling Bluesky in PostEase

Connecting Bluesky to PostEase starts with your handle: Bluesky doesn’t use the one-click redirect the other platforms do, so you enter the handle you sign in with, then continue from there. In the composer you write the post, with 300 characters counted the way Bluesky counts them and checked before you schedule, attach photos or video, and pick a time. It posts then. Replies, mentions and quotes of your posts arrive in the same inbox as your other channels.
