The short answer
X has its own scheduling. X’s help says X Pro “allows you to schedule posts in advance”, for each account you manage in it, with a Scheduled column to view and edit them; it does not schedule Direct Messages. Media Studio, X’s media library, also has a Schedule button for posts built from your uploaded media.
A third-party scheduler is worth it when you post to more than X and want one calendar for every platform. YouTube, X, LinkedIn (personal profile), Pinterest, Bluesky, and WordPress publishing are live today; Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Threads are pending each platform's own API approval.
The ways to schedule, side by side
From X’s own help pages, read in October 2026:
| Way | What it schedules | Note |
|---|---|---|
| X Pro | Posts, for each account you manage in X Pro | View and edit them in a Scheduled column; no scheduled Direct Messages |
| Media Studio | Posts built from your media library | Scheduled with the Schedule button in the post dialog |
Scheduling in X Pro
X’s help gives the steps: write the post, click Schedule post, select the date and time, and click Schedule post at the time shown. In a shared X Pro set-up, note that every scheduled post for the connected accounts is visible to anyone with access.
Before you schedule: what X takes
A scheduled post publishes exactly as you made it, so check it against the platform’s own figures first:
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| Media per post | 4 photos, or 1 GIF, or 1 video |
| Photo | JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP, up to 5 MB |
| Video length | 0.5 seconds to 20 minutes |
| Video file size | Up to 8 GB |
Pick the time in your audience’s time zone
A scheduled post goes out at the moment you set, wherever you are when you set it. Choose the time for the people you want to reach: if most of them live hours ahead of or behind you, schedule for their morning or evening, not yours. Check the time again in the weeks the clocks change, since daylight saving starts on different dates in different countries.
When a scheduler is worth it
X’s tools see only X. If you also post to LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest, Bluesky or others, a scheduler puts every platform on one calendar and gathers the replies in one inbox, which matters on X, where replies weigh heavily in ranking.
