The short answer
Ask Studio is a chat assistant built into YouTube Studio. You ask it questions about your channel in plain language, such as what viewers said under a video or how a recent upload performed, and it answers from your channel’s data, YouTube and the web. It also brainstorms ideas, reviews scripts and drafts, and handles many support questions.
YouTube’s Help Center calls it “an AI creative partner built directly into YouTube Studio to help you brainstorm video ideas, get channel insights, and analyze your performance.” It was announced at Made on YouTube in September 2025.
What it can do
From YouTube’s Help Center:
| Task | What YouTube describes |
|---|---|
| Channel insights | Questions about performance, including from the Analytics page |
| Comments | Summaries and common themes in comments on a video |
| Ideas | Brainstormed ideas and outlines, saved as Idea cards |
| Feedback before publishing | Suggestions on scripts, and on draft, private or unlisted videos using historical retention data |
| Thumbnails | Thumbnail suggestions based on a video’s transcript and themes |
| Images | Up to 10 images attached to a prompt for visual context |
| Support | Upload errors, monetisation appeal status and policy strikes, with “speak to an agent” to reach a person |
Who has it
YouTube says Ask Studio “is available to most YouTube creators globally,” on a computer’s web browser only. If the Ask Studio button is missing from the top corner of YouTube Studio, the channel does not have access. Official Artist Channels, channels set as made for kids, and creators under 18 cannot use it.
Ask Studio replaces the Inspiration tab
Before Ask Studio, YouTube Studio offered AI ideas in the Inspiration tab. YouTube’s page on that tab now says: “Starting August 2026, we are gradually deprecating the Inspiration tab. For brainstorming content ideas, use Ask Studio in YouTube Studio.” Ideas saved from either one appear under Content, then Saved Ideas.
What it keeps, and what to keep out
YouTube is specific about data:
| What | How long or how |
|---|---|
| Conversations | Saved for up to 30 days, then deleted automatically |
| Conversations with human agents | Not saved |
| Saved ideas | Kept until you delete them |
| Human review | Reviewers may read conversations, disconnected from your Google Account first |
Getting useful answers
YouTube’s own best practices come down to specificity:
- Start with what you want to learn, not “tell me about my channel”.
- Name the video: “What are the common themes in comments on my recent video about [topic]?” is YouTube’s own example.
- Use the suggested prompts, such as “Summarize comments”, then refine.
- Treat answers as suggestions: YouTube says quality and accuracy may vary, and not to rely on it for medical, legal or financial advice.
- Leave confidential information out, since reviewers may read conversations.
Ask Studio and PostEase
Ask Studio works on one YouTube channel. PostEase’s Ideas reads your brand brief and your account and proposes posts worth making next, and PostEase schedules YouTube videos beside every other platform on one calendar. YouTube, X, LinkedIn (personal profile), Pinterest, Bluesky, and WordPress publishing are live today; Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Threads are pending each platform's own API approval.
Questions
Can Ask Studio review a video before I publish it?
Yes. You can select a draft, private or unlisted video for suggestions based on creative best practices and historical retention data, or paste a script.
Why don’t I see Ask Studio?
It works only in a computer’s web browser. Official Artist Channels, made-for-kids channels and creators under 18 do not have access, and some other channels may not yet.
Does Ask Studio save my conversations?
For up to 30 days, after which they are deleted automatically. Conversations with human support agents are not saved.
What happened to the Inspiration tab?
YouTube is gradually deprecating it from August 2026 and points creators to Ask Studio for brainstorming ideas.
