What is Dear Algo on Threads?

Dear Algo lets Threads users ask for more or less of a topic for three days, in a public post. How it works, the private Your Algo, and what it means for you.

The short answer

Dear Algo is a Threads feature that lets you tell the feed what you want to see. Meta announced it on 11 February 2026 as a feature that uses AI to let you “tell Threads what topics you temporarily want to see more or less of.” You type “Dear Algo” in a public post, followed by your request, and Threads adjusts your feed for three days.

In June 2026, when Threads passed 500 million monthly active users, Meta added Your Algo, a private version: you choose topics to see more or less of, for one, three or seven days, and only you can see the request. Both are managed from one hub.

How to use it

For Dear Algo, write a public post that starts with “Dear Algo” and says what you want more or less of. Meta’s example is “Dear algo, show me more posts about podcasts,” and it describes uses such as more posts during a live game or fewer about a TV show you have not caught up on. For Your Algo, set the topic and the duration privately, with no post. Meta says it hopes to bring Dear Algo to more countries.

What it means for creators

Dear Algo and Your Algo change who sees a topic for days at a time. A few practical consequences:

Reading Dear Algo as a creator
What happensWhat it suggests
People ask for more of a topic during live eventsPost while the event is happening, when requests for it are most likely
Dear Algo requests are public and can be repostedA popular request can spread interest in a topic across many feeds
Requests can also ask for less, such as spoilersClear topic signals in your text help your post reach people who want it
Requests expire after daysSteady posting on a topic matters more than one well-timed post

Where it fits

Dear Algo adds a direct request to the other signals the Threads feed uses, and it sits beside Threads communities, which Meta graduated out of beta in the same June 2026 announcement. Our guide to how the Threads algorithm works covers the rest of the feed.
