The short answer
Original Content Rewards is X’s programme for paying creators, introduced in 2026 in place of Creator Revenue Sharing. Eligible creators earn every two weeks from qualified impressions on their original posts, Articles, videos and images.
X’s Help Center says it is “designed to reward creators who produce original, high-quality content,” in any format, “that reflects your own voice, expertise, or creativity.” Creator Revenue Sharing stopped taking new enrolments on August 7, 2026, closed on September 7, 2026, and its members could apply to the new programme from September 8.
Who qualifies
X lists the requirements at the time of application:
| Requirement | What X asks |
|---|---|
| Location | A country where the programme is available |
| Age | 18 or older |
| Account | Personal or Business, in good standing; not a political or government organisation |
| Subscription | An active Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business plan, or a qualifying plan on The X Subscription |
| Impressions | At least 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users in the last 90 days, excluding replies |
| Followers | At least 500 verified followers |
| Content | Actively posting original content |
How payouts are counted
Payouts are based on qualified impressions: unique impressions from Premium subscribers on the Home Timeline, where at least half the post is visible. Repeat impressions from the same account, paid or promoted impressions, and fraudulent or artificial ones do not count.
X’s Premium page puts it the same way: payouts are calculated from qualified impressions from Premium users, and applying is a Premium-tier feature, not part of Basic. Applying is a short form once you meet the bar, and meeting it does not guarantee admission. A rejected application can be appealed once, and if that fails, you can reapply after 42 days.
What counts as original
X treats commentary as original: breaking down a news story or adding context others do not have counts. What does not:
| Type | What X means |
|---|---|
| Copied content | Text, images or video copied from others, including downloads re-uploaded to X |
| Minimally modified content | Others’ work with small changes, such as a filter, speed change or text overlay |
| Aggregated content | Compilations of others’ posts without substantial new perspective |
| Cross-platform reposts | Content from other platforms reposted by someone other than its creator |
Staying eligible
Payouts continue only while the account keeps meeting the rules:
- Keep the qualifying Premium subscription active.
- Keep posting original, authentic content.
- Do not use bots or tools to inflate likes, follows, views or replies.
- Meet X’s Creator Monetization Standards: a complete profile, a verified email, two-factor authentication, an account at least 3 months old, and identity verification with a connected payout account.
Original Content Rewards and PostEase
PostEase publishes posts to X on schedule from your own account, beside every other platform. What X’s programme measures is the post: whether it is original, and the qualified impressions it earns. YouTube, X, LinkedIn (personal profile), Pinterest, Bluesky, and WordPress publishing are live today; Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Threads are pending each platform's own API approval.
