Feed images
Facebook does not publish a separate size for ordinary photo posts, but Meta’s ads guide recommends 4:5 at 1440 × 1800 for images in the Feed, in JPG or PNG up to 30 MB, at least 600 × 750. Ordinary posts appear in the same Feed, on the same phones, so the same shape fills the same space: a vertical 4:5 image takes more of the screen than a square or a wide one.
Link previews
When you share a link, Facebook shows the image the linked page names in its Open Graph tags. Meta recommends images of at least 1200 × 630 for the best display on high-resolution screens, as close to 1.91:1 as possible so nothing is cropped, and no larger than 8 MB. Below 600 × 315 the preview is shown small, and the absolute minimum is 200 × 200.

Page cover photo and profile picture
A Page cover photo loads fastest as an sRGB JPG, 851 × 315 and under 100 KB, and must be at least 400 × 150. It is shown at 16:9 on computers and 2.4:1 on phones, and the profile picture covers part of its left side, about 40 pixels on phones, so keep text and faces away from the left edge.
The profile picture should be 320 × 320; Facebook shows it at 176 × 176 on computers and 196 × 196 on phones. For a logo or text in either image, Facebook says a PNG may give a better result than a JPG.
Reels
Meta’s guide for publishing Reels asks for MP4, 9:16, at 1080 × 1920 (at least 540 × 960), 24 to 60 frames a second, H.264 or H.265 video and AAC audio at 48 kHz. Reels published through the API can be 3 to 90 seconds, or up to 60 seconds when published as a Page story.
