How to schedule Facebook posts

Facebook Pages schedule posts from 20 minutes to 29 days ahead, in Meta Business Suite or on the Page. The steps, what to check, and when a scheduler helps.

The short answer

A Facebook Page can schedule its own posts: Meta’s help says posts can be scheduled “between 20 minutes and 29 days away”, by people with Facebook or task access to the Page, and that all scheduling times correspond to your current time zone. Meta Business Suite schedules Facebook and Instagram posts, Stories and Reels together, with scheduled content shown in Planner.

A third-party scheduler is worth it when you post to more platforms than Facebook and Instagram and want one calendar for all of them. YouTube, X, LinkedIn (personal profile), Pinterest, Bluesky, and WordPress publishing are live today; Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Threads are pending each platform's own API approval.

Scheduling a Page post

Meta’s help gives the steps for a Page: write the post, then next to Scheduling options turn on the Set date and time toggle, pick the date and time, and click Schedule. A scheduled post can later be rescheduled to a new time, or moved back to the Page’s drafts, which cancels its publish time.

Before you schedule: the sizes Facebook takes

A scheduled post publishes exactly as you made it, so check it against the platform’s own figures first:

Facebook image and video sizes, from Meta, as set out in this blog’s Facebook specs post
WhatLimit
Feed image4:5, 1440 × 1800
Link preview imageAt least 1200 × 630, about 1.91:1
Reel9:16, 1080 × 1920

Pick the time in your audience’s time zone

A scheduled post goes out at the moment you set, wherever you are when you set it. Choose the time for the people you want to reach: if most of them live hours ahead of or behind you, schedule for their morning or evening, not yours. Check the time again in the weeks the clocks change, since daylight saving starts on different dates in different countries.

When a scheduler is worth it

Facebook’s own tools see only Facebook and Instagram, and only 29 days ahead. If you also post to YouTube, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest or Bluesky, a scheduler puts every platform on one calendar and gathers the comments in one inbox. Check that it stores each post with the time zone it was set in, so a team in different places sees the same moment.
