The short answer
Facebook pro mode turns a personal Facebook profile into a creator profile without making a new one. It adds content and audience insights, safety tools, eligibility for discovery and, for eligible creators, monetisation, while your friends and existing content stay as they are.
Facebook’s Help Center says pro mode “gives you access to professional tools and insights that can help you build your professional presence from your Facebook profile,” and Meta notes that these tools “were available only on Pages” before.
What changes when you turn it on
From Facebook’s Help Center:
| What | With pro mode on |
|---|---|
| Friends and content | Stay the same |
| Who can follow you | Set to Public, so fans can follow; changeable in settings |
| Insights | Content and audience insights to track progress |
| Safety | Enhanced features such as Moderation Assist |
| Discovery | Your content becomes eligible for discovery opportunities |
| Money | Monetisation products, if you are eligible |
Pro mode or a Page
Facebook for Creators puts the choice this way:
| What differs | Pro mode | Facebook Page |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Building a public presence from your personal profile while keeping personal connections | Established creators |
| Presence | Your existing profile | Separate from your personal profile |
| Team access | Your own profile | Admin and moderator roles, multi-admin access |
| Advanced tools | Not eligible for certain tools or programs | Full Ads Manager, Commerce Manager and the Page API |
Turning it off
Pro mode profiles that earn money must follow Facebook’s Partner Monetization Policies, which Meta says apply to “all Pages, profiles in professional mode, events and groups.” You can turn pro mode off at any time, but check what goes with it first. Facebook lists what happens: your Who can follow me setting returns to Friends and you lose followers who are not friends; your content and audience insights are no longer available; Moderation Assist and discovery eligibility go; future monetisation payouts and bonuses pause, though pending ones are paid; and if content protection was on, protection for all your content is removed.
How to turn it on
Go to your profile, click Options below your cover photo or profile header, choose Turn on pro mode, and confirm. Turning it off is the same path, with Turn off pro mode.
Pro mode and PostEase
If you plan to schedule Facebook posts from outside tools, note that Facebook lists the Page API among the advanced tools that come with a Page rather than with pro mode. YouTube, X, LinkedIn (personal profile), Pinterest, Bluesky, and WordPress publishing are live today; Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Threads are pending each platform's own API approval.
