The short answer
Meta Verified is a paid subscription from Meta that gives a creator’s Instagram or Facebook profile a verified badge, along with impersonation protection, chat and email support, and extra features in higher plans. You confirm your identity with a government ID, and Meta reviews the application.
Instagram’s Help Center describes it as “a paid subscription that provides tools to help you build more confidence with new audiences and protect your brand.” It renews automatically until cancelled, and plans and benefits vary by region, app and account.
The plans
Every plan includes the verified badge, impersonation protection, enhanced support, search optimisation, images on links and exclusive stickers. Higher plans add more:
| Plan | Adds |
|---|---|
| Standard | The core benefits above |
| Plus | Featured profile, Links in Reels (2 a month), Reels original credit (trial) |
| Premium | Links in Reels (4 a month), custom chat themes |
| Max | Links in Reels (6 a month), personalised content strategy advice |
How verification works
Meta’s process has three steps:
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| Choose profiles | Up to two on the same Meta Account, one Instagram and one Facebook; bundling may be discounted, and both may need similar names and pictures |
| Confirm identity | Photos of a government-issued photo ID, or, if eligible, your activity across Meta products |
| Review | Up to 3 business days, with a notification when it is done |
After you are verified
Once Meta approves the application, the subscription becomes active, the chosen profiles show the badge, and your plan’s benefits switch on. Billing repeats on the same date as the original purchase until you cancel. From the subscription settings you can view its details, update the payment method, see payment history, change plan, contact Meta Verified support, or cancel.
Things to know before subscribing
Points from Meta’s terms and Help Center:
- Advanced Protection must be on for the verified profiles, and it cannot be turned off while the subscription is active.
- Eligible profiles are Instagram and Facebook creator or personal profiles; businesses have a separate Meta Verified for businesses.
- False or misleading information can lead Meta to refuse or remove verification.
- Meta can revoke a subscription over integrity concerns or fraud risk.
Paid badge or courtesy check
Meta Verified is one of two routes to a badge on Facebook. Facebook for Creators notes that well-established creators with an extensive history of media coverage can apply for a courtesy blue check as a notable public figure; Meta Verified is the paid alternative open to eligible creators without that history.
