What is LinkedIn Live?

LinkedIn Live streams video to your profile or Page through a broadcast tool. Who qualifies, how events and reminders work, and the limits on stream length.

The short answer

LinkedIn Live is live video streamed to your LinkedIn profile or Page, usually announced in advance as a Live Event that people can sign up for. Anyone can watch; to broadcast, a member or Page has to meet LinkedIn’s access criteria.

You do not go live from inside LinkedIn. LinkedIn’s Help Center is direct about it: “You cannot stream directly from LinkedIn. A streaming tool is needed to broadcast LinkedIn Lives (Video).” Its preferred third-party broadcast tools include Restream, Socialive, StreamYard and Switcher.

Who can broadcast

There is no application form. LinkedIn checks these criteria when you try to create a live event:

LinkedIn Live access criteria, from LinkedIn’s Help Center, checked October 2026
CriterionWhat LinkedIn requires
AudienceMore than 150 followers and/or connections to be evaluated
Account ageThe account or Page created at least 30 days ago
StandingA good-standing record under the Professional Community Policies
LocationNot available for members and Pages based in mainland China
PremiumNot required: all members and Page admins can qualify

Getting access

Access is checked when you try. Create an event on LinkedIn: if you qualify, LinkedIn Live appears in the Event format dropdown; if not, it does not appear. Or create an event in one of the preferred broadcast tools, which tells you immediately whether your profile or Page has access. For a Page, switch the organizer to that Page to trigger its review.

Scheduling a Live Event

Scheduling ahead builds an audience. From LinkedIn’s page on scheduling from a broadcast tool:

Scheduled LinkedIn Live Events, from LinkedIn’s Help Center, checked October 2026
WhatHow it works
AnnouncementA public Live Event post on your profile or Page that turns into the live video when you start
AttendeesPeople who click Attend get reminders three days and 15 minutes before
Going liveAttendees and a subset of your followers are notified
Start windowFrom 15 minutes before to two hours after the scheduled time; otherwise the event shows as cancelled
Lead timeLinkedIn recommends scheduling at least two weeks ahead

During and after

LinkedIn’s broadcasting FAQ adds practical limits:

  • Run for at least 10 minutes to gather an audience; the maximum is four hours.
  • Stream in real time: LinkedIn discourages pre-recorded content.
  • Some broadcast tools can stream to LinkedIn and another platform at once.
  • When it ends, the stream stays on your feed as a video marked “Previously recorded live”.
  • Edits or cancellations to the event must also be made in your broadcast tool.

LinkedIn Live and PostEase

PostEase schedules LinkedIn posts to your personal profile, so the posts around a Live, the reminder the day before and the replay link afterwards, can go out on time beside every other platform. The stream itself runs through a broadcast tool. YouTube, X, LinkedIn (personal profile), Pinterest, Bluesky, and WordPress publishing are live today; Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Threads are pending each platform's own API approval.
