How to pin a post to the top of your profile

Instagram pins up to 3 posts, X one, Facebook Pages a Featured row, LinkedIn a Featured section, YouTube a trailer. How to set each, and what to pin.

The short answer

A pinned post is the first thing a profile visitor sees, so it works as the second half of your bio. Instagram lets you pin up to 3 posts to the top of your grid. X lets you pin a post so it is the first one people see on your profile. Facebook Pages pin posts, events and videos into a Featured section. LinkedIn’s Featured section shows posts you have written. YouTube has no pinned post, but a channel trailer for people who have not subscribed and a featured video for returning subscribers do the same job.

Pin three kinds of thing: the post that best shows what you do, your best performer, and whatever you are selling or launching now. Change the third as often as the offer changes.

Platform by platform

From each platform’s help pages, read in November 2026:

Instagram and X

Instagram’s Help Center says you can pin up to 3 posts to the top of your profile: open the post, tap Options, then Pin to main grid. Unpin it the same way, with Unpin from main grid, and the post returns to its original place in your grid.

X’s Help Center says a pinned post is the first post others see when they visit your profile. From your profile, find the post, click or tap the icon at the top of it, choose Pin to your profile, then confirm with Pin.

Facebook Pages and LinkedIn

Facebook’s Help Center says anyone with Facebook access to a Page can pin posts, upcoming events and recent videos into the Featured section at the top of the Page. The newest pinned item appears first, you can change the order, and items stay until you remove them. Click Manage in the Featured section, or open a post’s Options and choose Pin post.

LinkedIn Help says the Featured section can hold LinkedIn posts you created or re-shared, articles you published on LinkedIn, links to outside websites, and media you upload. You must have published the post or article on LinkedIn to feature it, and you cannot feature posts from Events you attend or Groups you belong to. Add it from your profile with Add profile section, Recommended, then Add Featured.

YouTube: trailer and featured video

YouTube Help describes two slots on the channel Home tab. A channel trailer previews your channel for people who have not subscribed; a featured video, added as a Spotlight section, greets returning subscribers. Once a viewer has watched either, it is not shown to them again. Set both in YouTube Studio under Customization, then Home tab, then Add section.

The same page says the Home tab can hold up to 12 custom sections, and defaults to four: Short videos, Uploads, Created playlists and Subscriptions you have made public.

What to pin, and when to change it

A good set is one post that says plainly what the account is for, one that proves it with your best result, and one with a job to do this week, such as a launch, a sale or a waitlist. Review the pins whenever you change your bio or your offer, since both answer the same question for a new visitor.

The same idea on your link-in-bio page

Your bio link deserves a pin too. On a PostEase link-in-bio page, Feature this link draws one link first and larger; only one can be featured at a time. A link can also show only between two dates, and a link set on a scheduled post goes first when the post goes out and steps down a week later, so the page follows what you are posting without a second edit.
