Image Pins: why 2:3
Pinterest’s feed is a grid of columns, so every Pin has the same width and its height is set by its shape. A 2:3 Pin is taller than it is wide, which gives it more room in the grid than a square, without being so tall that Pinterest trims it. Pinterest says Pins with a shape taller than 2:3 might get cut off in feeds.

Video Pins
A video Pin can be 4 seconds to 5 minutes long. Pinterest recommends 9:16 at 1080 × 1920, and also accepts 1:2, 2:3, 3:4, 4:5 and 1:1. From a computer upload MP4 or M4V; the app also takes MOV. Pinterest’s separate limits for video ads are longer, up to 15 minutes and 2 GB, but those apply to paid placements.
Titles, descriptions and alt text
A title can be up to 100 characters; put the subject first, since a title may be shortened on smaller screens. A description can be up to 800 characters, so there is room to describe the Pin in the words people search for. Alt text, up to 500 characters through Pinterest’s API, describes the image for people using screen readers.
