The short answer
The Creator Rewards Program is how TikTok pays creators for their videos. TikTok describes it as “a rewards program designed to help creators foster their creativity and generate higher revenue potential by posting high-quality, original content.”
It pays for original videos at least a minute long, based on qualified views from the For You feed. To join, a creator needs a personal account, to be at least 18, at least 10,000 followers and at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days.
Who is eligible
From TikTok’s Support pages, in its own words:
| Requirement | What TikTok says |
|---|---|
| Account | Have a Personal Account. Business Accounts and accounts belonging to political or government organizations aren’t eligible. |
| Age | Be at least 18 years old (or 19 in South Korea). |
| Followers | Have at least 10,000 followers. |
| Views | Have at least 100,000 video views in the last 30 days. |
| Content | Post original content that’s eligible for rewards. |
| Length | Post videos that are at least one minute long. |
The four metrics behind the rewards
When TikTok introduced the program in March 2024, it named four metrics, and defined each:
| Metric | What TikTok says |
|---|---|
| Originality | quality content unique to the creator |
| Play duration | accounts for both watch time and finish rate |
| Search value | a metric assigned to content based on popular search terms |
| Audience engagement | includes likes, comments and shares |
What a qualified view is
Rewards count only qualified views. TikTok says these are “unique video views from the For You feed and exclude views with fraud, paid views, disliked views, views with less than 5 seconds watched, promoted views, and artificial views,” and that eligible videos “will start to collect rewards as soon as they reach 1,000 qualified For You feed views.”
What does not count as original
The program is built around original work. TikTok defines original content as “designed, filmed, and produced by you,” and lists among what is not original “Content that contains lip syncs or copyrighted music that plays for over one minute,” adding that such videos are at risk of being muted. Its announcement also said the formula favours clear, engaging content “rather than favoring accounts with an excessive amount of videos.”
AI-made videos and the program
Original does not rule out AI tools, but TikTok asks for honesty about them. Its Support page on AI-generated content says “We also require creators to label all AI-generated content that contains realistic images, audio, and video,” and creators can disclose “directly on the post by adding text, a hashtag sticker, or context in the post’s description.” A video built for the program should still be your own work, labelled where AI made it look real.
