The short answer
A LinkedIn Page is an organisation’s presence on LinkedIn: a company, a school, or a product line shown as a Showcase Page. A LinkedIn profile is a person. LinkedIn’s Help Center puts it in one line: “LinkedIn Pages represent collective organizations, while LinkedIn profiles represent individuals.”
Pages are free to create, and they are where people learn about an organisation’s business, products and jobs. Every Page is created and run by people with their own profiles, acting as its admins.
Profile or Page
LinkedIn compares the two directly:
| What differs | Profile | Page |
|---|---|---|
| Represents | A person | An organisation |
| Following | Follow people, Pages and topics | A Page can follow another Page |
| Visitor analytics | Who’s viewed my profile | Who’s visited my Page |
| Verification | Member verification | Page verification |
| Premium | LinkedIn Premium | Premium Company Page |
Do not run a company as a profile
LinkedIn is strict about this. Profiles must use a real name and represent a real person, and LinkedIn says that if you try to represent an organisation with a profile, it “may automatically log you out of your account,” with repeated violations leading to restrictions. A profile cannot be converted into a Page.
If you set one up by mistake, LinkedIn’s advice is to change the profile name to your own, create a Page for the organisation, add yourself as an admin, and invite your connections to follow the new Page.
Admin roles
A Page is managed through roles. From LinkedIn’s Help Center:
| Role | What it allows |
|---|---|
| Super admin | Every Page permission: adding and removing admins, editing Page information, job postings and deactivating the Page |
| Content admin | Creating and managing posts, boosting posts and events |
| Analyst | The Analytics tab only |
| Paid media roles | Sponsored Content poster, Lead Gen Forms manager and Landing Pages manager, through Campaign Manager |
Creating a Page
You need a LinkedIn account. On desktop, open For Business, choose Create a Company Page, pick the type (Company, Showcase page or Educational institution), fill in the Page identity and details, and confirm you have the right to act for the organisation. LinkedIn says Pages can be created on desktop or on an iOS device, not on Android. Whoever creates the Page becomes its super admin.
Which to post from
Profiles and Pages do different jobs:
- Post as yourself when the point is your own expertise, since LinkedIn ties a profile to a real person.
- Post as the Page for company news, jobs and product updates that belong to the organisation.
- Do both: share the Page’s post from your profile with a line of your own.
- Give colleagues content admin, not super admin, if all they need is to post.
LinkedIn Pages and PostEase
PostEase publishes to your personal LinkedIn profile today, beside every other platform on one calendar. Posts for a company Page are made in LinkedIn, by an admin with posting rights. YouTube, X, LinkedIn (personal profile), Pinterest, Bluesky, and WordPress publishing are live today; Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Threads are pending each platform's own API approval.
