The short answer
A Showcase Page is a sub-page of a LinkedIn Page. LinkedIn’s Help Center describes Showcase Pages as “extensions of your LinkedIn Page designed to spotlight a brand, business unit, or initiative,” each with its own messages and audience. Members follow a Showcase Page separately from the main company Page, which LinkedIn calls the parent Page.
Only a super admin of the parent Page can create one, and a parent Page can have up to 25. LinkedIn says Showcase Pages are meant for building a long-term relationship with a specific audience; for a one-time event, it recommends other advertising products.
What a Showcase Page can and cannot do
LinkedIn compares the two page types feature by feature:
| Feature | LinkedIn Page | Showcase Page |
|---|---|---|
| Page analytics and activity notifications | Yes | Yes, counted separately |
| Sponsor posts | Yes | Yes |
| Members can follow | Yes | Yes, with separate followers |
| Featured groups and content management | Yes | Yes |
| Members link their profile to it | Yes | No |
| Job postings and Career Pages | Yes | No |
Rules worth knowing
From LinkedIn’s Showcase Pages help and FAQ:
| Rule | What LinkedIn says |
|---|---|
| How many | Up to 25 per parent Page, with a daily creation limit to prevent spam |
| Parent | Each Showcase Page belongs to one parent Page |
| Followers | Not shared, and parent Page followers cannot be moved to a Showcase Page |
| Search | A Showcase Page appears in search only for members who already follow it |
| Admins | The creator becomes super admin; only super admins edit, manage admins and post as the page |
| Address | Its own URL, which can be customized |
| Converting | Can become a full LinkedIn Page if a super admin of both pages contacts LinkedIn |
Creating one
From the parent Page’s super admin view, click Create, choose Create a Showcase Page, enter the parent Page under Associated organization page, fill in the required fields and click Create page. You then edit the logo, tagline, locations, custom button and URL from the admin view. LinkedIn notes that if you hit the daily limit, you need to wait at least 24 hours.
When a Showcase Page makes sense
Because followers start at zero and the page appears in search only for its own followers, a Showcase Page has to earn its audience. It suits a product line, region or program with a clearly different audience and enough to post for the long term, as LinkedIn suggests. For a single event, LinkedIn points to its other advertising products instead.
